ABOUT TANYA

WHO I AM AND WHY I'M RUNNING

I'VE SPENT MY CAREER WORKING WITH NUMBERS.

I'm a parent, selectboard member, and economics professor at Middlebury College. I live in Cornwall with my husband, Ian. We have two kids who recently graduated from college.

From household budgets to town budgets to paid family leave programs, I know that numbers aren't just numbers, they're real people with stories to tell.

As an educator, I've spent my career teaching students how to analyze complex data and explaining how numbers tell us stories about our neighbors and the problems they face every day.

I am a realist. I know that Vermont faces serious challenges in tackling the escalating costs of housing, education, and healthcare. But I am also an optimist. Rural communities that show up for one another and for their towns have made Vermont great for generations. These same communities can and must shape the path ahead. I am running for office because of the difficult challenges AND the amazing opportunities facing Vermont.

I can dig into the numbers and keep an eye on the bigger picture: we need to keep our communities' needs front and center in the rooms where decisions are made.
